Sadler 'Proud' as Walsall Draw with Newport County

Here's how the gaffer saw Walsall's Easter Monday trip to Rodney Parade.
Walsall boss Mat Sadler praised his team's overall performance as they and Newport County played out a goalless draw at Rodney Parade on Easter Monday.

Going into the game on the back of Good Friday's 2-2 draw with Harrogate Town, the Saddlers were in desperate need of a return to winning ways, but, after seeing a late Oisin McEntee goal ruled out for a clear handball, were made to settle for a point.

Sitting fourth in the table, Sadler's side are now winless in ten league games, and, although many teams around them have also begun to falter, will need a minor miracle if they are to return to the promotion places at the end of the season.

Speaking to the assembled media, Sadler said: "I thought today's performance was very good.

"I thought we were brave, I thought we were bold, and we took the ball in good areas. Alfie Chang had a fantastic first start for us, really controlled the tempo of the game, and we just moved things around a little bit.

"There were some really classy performances out there. The only thing missing was a goal, but if we keep working and keep playing in that vein, then it will come.

"We've got a group of guys who're giving everything all the time. Through good or through bad, and they've got some real quality to go alongside that.

"I was really proud of the performance today and proud of the supporters, who I thought were magnificent."
