Sadler Disappointed as Walsall Fall to Another Defeat

Here's how the gaffer saw the Saddlers' League Two meeting with the Mariners.
Walsall boss Mat Sadler has spoken of his disappointment after seeing his side squander a one-goal lead as they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at home to Grimsby Town on Saturday afternoon.

Going into the game on the back of three winless games, the Saddlers took the lead with just six-minutes played as on-loan MK Dons forward Ellis Harrison grabbed his third goal for the club.

However, a Jayden Luker brace either side of Danny Rose's well-taken penalty, saw the Saddlers slip to defeat, giving title rivals Bradford City an ultimately wasted opportunity to take their place at the top of the table.

Speaking to Express & Star reporter George Bennett, Sadler said: "Having gone in front, we did well to work the opportunity for that.

"The disappointment was the moments of the goals. They've not had to work for the first one, and the thing for me is wanting to really focus on those reactions if we concede a goal today.

"That wasn't quite right, but I'm not going to make things bigger than what they need to be. I'm never going to do that.

"The goals, certainly the first two goals, are available and that was the frustration for me and then maybe we don't react in the most positive way.

"I'm not here to forget about what we've done previously. We are a very good team, and we've proven that countless times, and we should all be proud of what a very good team that we are.

"But you get judged by those wins. We're looking forward to picking up that next win and maybe that'll galvanise everyone."

Walsall will next be in action on Thursday evening as they take on Bromley in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
