Walsall, on the other hand, have struggled to make their mark over recent weeks, with the confidence of their recent nine-hame winning streak a thing of the past, and in its place is a side that, though showing plenty of endeavour, simply can't put games to bed.

Looking back at the aforementioned Mariners, and they're in fine form, having gone seven league games without defeat, with their most recent outing seeing them and Tranmere Rovers playing out a one-all draw in midweek.

Donervon Daniels, Priestley Farquharson, Jack Earing, George Hall, and Josh Gordon are still missing for the Saddlers, though Daniels and Farquharson are said to be closing in on a return to action.
Ellis Harrison is back in contention after missing the draw with Carlisle United through illness.

THE LAST TIME WE MET
The most recent meeting took place at Blundell Park on Saturday, 19th October 2024 and saw the Saddlers ease to victory by four-goals-to-one.
With the Saddlers looking to secure their first win in three league games, they had to be patient as the first goal of the game didn't arrive until the second-half when Jamille Matt grabbed his fourth goal of the campaign to put his side ahead.
Walsall's second goal of the game came via the foot of Jamie Jellis as the former Tamworth midfielder slammed the ball into the top corner from some distance, bagging his third goal of the campaign.
Stoke City loanee Nathan Lowe was the third Saddler to get on the scoresheet as he bagged his seventh goal of an already fruitful campaign as the Grimsby defence continued to fall apart.
The home side grabbed a goal back with around three minutes of normal time remaining, as substitute Donovan Wilson took advantage of some sloppy play to dirty Tommy Simkin's sheet.
