Tommy Simkin Signs New Stoke City Contract

The young goalkeeper has extended his stay with his parent club.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall's on-loan Stoke City goalkeeper Tommy Simkin has put pen-to-paper on a new three-and-a-half year contract at the bet365 Stadium.

20-year-old, Walsall born Simkin has made 34 first-team appearances so far this season, and has helped the team rise to the top of League Two.

Simkin, who made his Potters debut the day after his 19th birthday in December 2023, has captained England’s under 20s to victory against Italy, Germany and Czechia in three of his six caps for the Young Lions to date.

Simkin, whose spell at the Bescot Stadium follows previous senior experiences with Hanley Town, AFC Fylde, Solihull Moors and Forest Green Rovers, is excited to continue his journey with the Potters, having joined the Club aged 13.

Speaking via the Potters' official website, Tommy said; "I love being a Stoke City player and my family love me being a part of the Club, I see myself playing here regularly in the future.

"I have played consistently this season at Walsall, which has given me consistency in my game.

"My aim is to be Stoke City’s number one in the future, and every game I play on loan gives me more experience and takes me closer to that goal.

"In the immediate future, I am focused on playing well and helping Walsall to hopefully achieve promotion, from there I look forward to returning to Clayton Wood in the summer and working with the Manager, his staff, Darren Behcet and the goalkeeping group."
