Sadler Satisfied as Walsall Return to Winning Ways

Here's how the gaffer saw the Saddlers' meeting with Chesterfield.
Walsall boss Mat Sadler has praised his team after they returned to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 win over Chesterfield at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Reaching the match on the back of a five game winless run, the Saddlers scored via Jamille Matt, Ellis Harrison and Levi Amantchi to take all three points on Saturday afternoon.

Visitors Chesterfield had gone into half-time in the lead after Jamie Grimes scored inside eight minutes of the first-half, but the Saddlers were able to get back into the game seven minutes after the break, before two more goals secured the win.

Speaking to Express & Star reporter George Bennett, Sadler said: "The result is satisfying.

"I have to remain true to some of the stuff I said on Tuesday night because I thought we played well and should've won the game.

"Unfortunately, a fantastic goal prevents that, and those things will happen.

"I still felt our performance levels were really good in the first half today and I felt we fully deserved the win. It was a proper team performance on a difficult pitch.

"Having gone behind, the resilience, the character and the commitment that everybody showed to get the victory was for everybody to see.

"The supporters were outstanding for us today and kept us going. It was a fantastic afternoon for everybody, and a big win against a good team."
