"We Were Brilliant": Mat Sadler Welcomes Walsall's Latest Win

Here's how the gaffer saw Walsall's League Two meeting with Tranmere Rovers.
Walsall boss Mat Sadler has praised his side for their brilliant display as they thrashed Tranmere Rovers by five-goals-to-one on Saturday afternoon.

Goals from Jamille Matt, who grabbed his 99th and 100th league goals, Ryan Stirk, Jamie Jellis and Nathan Lowe saw them make it eight league wins on the bounce.

The visitors did pull the score back to 2-1 ahead of half-time as, despite Sam Finley seeing red for a silly handball, Connor Jennings put the ball beyond Tommy Simkin to give his side hope.

But the Saddlers went on to score three more times in the second half, stretching their advantage to twelve points over second-placed Crewe Alexandra, who were held to a draw by Swindon Town.

Speaking to George Bennett of the Express & Star, Sadler said: "I thought we played really well.

"We started the game well and really put them on the back foot. Our goals settled things down for us and I thought we were brilliant for the first forty minutes.

"There was that part in the middle of the first half where it got a little bit fractious.

"When they scored their goal, it gives you something different to talk about at half-time, and I could understand it to a degree because I thought the sending off and the goal helped them.

"The message at half-time was just to make sure that we continue doing what we do.

"Not getting into anyone else's game, just play the way that we play, and we did that."
