Walsall returned to EFL Trophy action on Tuesday evening as they welcomed Reading to the Poundland Bescot Stadium for their Round of 32 clash.
The opening goal of the game didn't arrive until the seventy-second minute as Reading, who had then been reduced to ten men earlier in the half, as Tyler Sackey put the ball into the back of the net.
Walsall levelled the scores in the final moments of second-half stoppage time as Danny Johnson scored from a Reyes Cleary cross, the match going to a penalty shoot-out.
Walsall went on to win the shoot-out by four-goals-to-two, as goalkeeper Sam Hornby denied both Wareham and Wellens, whilst Adomah, Johnson, Daniels and Cleary all found the target for the Saddlers.
