Walsall FC Academy has announced the launch of the new 'Academy Alumni Project'. Each and every player who passes through our academy maintains their connection with Walsall FC beyond the time that they spend with the club.
This new scheme will look to honour and connect the talented individuals who have graduated from Walsall FC Academy, celebrating their journeys and experiences both on and off the pitch.
The project is not only about showcasing achievements but also about building a network of young men who are entering the next stages of their careers.
Through a series of interviews, spotlight stories and networking events, the academy hopes to create a strong sense of community and belonging.
Members of the alumni network will also serve as role models to current young players, helping to guide and inspire the future generation of Academy graduates.
One such former scholar is Shaun Johnson. Shaun was a member of the Academy from U12 to U16 age groups and is now studying a BSc in Football Coaching at the University of Wolverhampton, starting his second year in September 2024.
As part of the link with Shaun as a former Academy player, through his dad Marcus who has been an age group coach with us for the past three seasons and with the University, Shaun has joined the Alumni Programme and is working as a coach volunteer with pre Academy players.
