Walsall made their way to Derbyshire on Saturday afternoon as they looked to rebound from their dismal defeat to Fleetwood County when they faced Chesterfield in their latest outing of the 2024/25 League Two campaign.
Walsall grabbed the opening goal of the game with 33 minutes on the clock as on-loan Stoke City striker Nathan Lowe slotted home after a lapse in the Chesterfield backline that first saw Jamill Matt have a shot saved, allowed Lowe in to score.
Chesterfield levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time as Darren Oldaker slammed the ball home following a rarely-seen indirect free-kick.
The Saddlers didn't allow their hosts' late leveller to get them down as they went straight back into the lead as Liam Gordon's pass found Lowe in space, and he was only too happy to send the ball home to restore his team's advantage.
The home side levelled the scores once again as Dilan Markanday smashed the ball into the back of Tommy Simkin's net following some poor Walsall defending, The gaffer will have to think about changes to his line-up when they face Grimsby Town in a couple of weeks.
