PRE-MATCH NEWS & VIEWS
After sitting out the last few weeks thanks to a number of international call-ups, the Saddlers returned to action in style on Saturday afternoon as they hit Grimsby Town for four at Blundell Park.
Goals from Jamille Matt, Jamie Jellis, Nathan Lowe and Danny Johnson saw Walsall continue their promising start to the season, though Donervon Wilson did add something of a blot on the copybook as he stole the ball off Tommy Simkin to give his side a consolation goal.
After seeing their recent unbeaten run halted, it was encouraging to see the team not only return to winning ways but dominate an opponent into submission.
After winning their opening four home league games, the Saddlers were thrashed 6-2 by Fleetwood Town the last time they played at the Bescot and simply have to right a few wrongs at home to Carlisle on Tuesday.
WALSALL TEAM NEWS
Walsall are still without the services of Priestley Farquharson and Josh Gordon, who continue to work their way back from various injury issues.
OPPOSITION NEWS
Opponents Carlisle United have won just two of their twelve league games and sit in the relegation zone ahead of kick-off.
Winless in their last five, the Cumbrians visit WS1 on the back of a one-all draw with Harrogate Town and a performance that saw them dominate the ball but ultimately settle for a point as they continue to search for a spell of good form.
With just one win coming from their six away league games, they'll need to build upon their display against Harrogate if they are to begin to get themselves out of trouble.
