Walsall goalkeepers George Barrett and Jenson Kilroy, defender Rico Browne, midfielder Dylan Thomas, and strikers Douglas James-Taylor and Charlie Wragg are currently out on loan as they look to earn first-team football and possibly force their way into Mat Sadler's plans.

Walsall defender Rico Browne wasted little time in taking to the field after joining Tamworth on Tuesday evening.

Browne, who recently signed for the Saddlers following a successful trial spell, was named in the starting XI as the Lambs played hos to Gateshead in the National League North.

Tamworth were able to take the points as goals from Nathan Tshikuna and Dan Creaney were enough to render Callum Whelan's 95th minute strike a mere consolation as they won for the first time in three.

George Barrett retained his starting spot as Lye Town took on a troubled Walsall Wood at the John Sylvester Stadium on a damp Tuesday evening.

The Wood, who saw their managerial team and much of the first-team squad walk out over financial issues, were able to field a team that included former Saddlers scholar Piers Juliff among its ranks.

Despite Piers Juliff giving his new side the lead, goals from Alfie Steward and Dan Tozer were enough to secure the win for Lye.

Meanwhile, Douglas James-Taylor was among the scorers as Drogheda United booked their place in the FAI Cup Final with a 3-2 win over Wexford on Monday evening.
