Walsall defender Liam Gordon was back in action for Guyana in the early hours of Wednesday morning as they took on Suriname in their latest CONCACAF Nations League - League A - Group A outing.
Being played at the Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname, the Golden Jaguars had it all to do after failing to win any of their three previous group games, including a recent 3-1 defeat to Guatemala.
Gordon, who is closing in on 100 first-team appearances, was named as captain on the night but was unable to guide his side to victory as Suriname cruised to a comfortable win with goals from Sheraldo Becker (3', 10'), Virgil Misidjan (33'), Denzel Jubitana (51'), and Ridgeciano Haps (69') more than enough to cancel out Jalen Jones' 13th-minute effort and take all three points.
