Walsall defender Liam Gordon was named among the starting XI as Guyana took on Guatemala in CONCACAF Nations League, League A, Group A in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Looking to improve upon their opening draw and defeat in the group, Guyana fell behind seventeen minutes into the first half when Dinamo Tbilisi striker Óscar Santis opened the scoring via a Nathaniel Méndez-Laing assist.
Guyana hit back later in the opening forty-five when Stephen Duke-McKenna got on the end of a Ryan Hackett short pass to curl the ball beyond the 'keeper and into the back of the net, Guatemala seeing possession robbed before the Golden Jaguars levelled.
Sadly for Guyana, parity was ultimately short-lived as Antigua GFC midfielder Óscar Castellanos put his side back into the lead as he swept the ball home after a weak cross was allowed to go all the way across the area before Castellanos put the ball into the back of the net.
Guatemala's third goal came off a defensive error as Santis read a poor lofted cross-field pass to find Rubio Rubin who fed the ball back to Santis who broke into the box and slotted home. The game ending 3-1 to the visitors.
