Walsall have completed the signing of former Birmingham City prospect Rico Browne on a one-year contract with the option of a further year in the club's favour following a successful trial spell.
The defender makes the move to the Poundland Bescot Stadium after the Saddlers agreed a compensation package with Birmingham City following the expiry of his contract at St Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.
No stranger to the area, he spent a spell on loan with Rushall Olympic last season, where he made eighteen appearances and scored once for the Pics.
Along with his time at Dales Lane Rico also made many appearances for City's development teams and has also represented Saint Kitts & Nevis at Under 17s level.
Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler admitted he is pleased to add an option to his injury-hit squad, speaking via the club's official website, he said: "Rico’s been with us for almost two weeks.
"He’s a young player that I knew a lot about anyway, he had a good loan spell at Rushall last season in the same team as Ronan so I saw bits there.
"With the injuries that we had, it’s a really good opportunity for an extra player to be with us and somebody who we think can improve with us.
"I didn’t just want to bring anybody in, I wanted to bring somebody in who’s got a real chance of getting better, improving and will work extremely hard so I’m delighted to bring Rico in and we look forward to working together."
