Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler and defender Connor Barrett have both been nominated for Sky Bet League Two's Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards respectively
Sadler led the team to three victories out of four league matches in the season's opening month, which included the eye-catching 4-0 triumph away at Swindon Town.
The Saddlers also reached the third round of the Carabao Cup during a positive August.
Other nominees for the award are:
Mark Bonner (Gillingham)
Bonner has swept into Kent, bringing with him a front-foot style, utilising pace down the wings and an attacking energy and verve that has been rewarded with the leadership of League Two and 10 points from four unbeaten games.
Stephen Clemence (Barrow)
While he has introduced a free-flowing style that is more appealing on the eye, Clemence has been shrewd enough to trust the solid Barrow defence already in place. The result was nine points from four games and three clean sheets.
Johnnie Jackson (AFC Wimbledon)
The steady progression under Jackson’s tenure continues with Wimbledon starting well in both league – nine points from four matches - and two cups in a hectic 22-day, seven-game schedule in which to bed in a host of new players.
Elsehwere, Barrett's earned recognition for his fantastic start to life in the EFL with the Saddlers. He registered three assists during the month and he's impressed with his consistent displays so far.
Other Player of the Month nominees are:
James Berry (Chesterfield) – attacking midfielder
After starting out at Liverpool, Berry had to drop down into lower non-league football to find his way back, but three goals for new boys Chesterfield, including a dipping stunner at Crewe, suggest the talent is finally being realised.
Jodi Jones (Notts County) - winger
Last season’s League Two Player of the Year is at it again. Jones’ ability to create chances and mayhem off either wing and with both feet has defenders in turmoil, as suggested by two goals and three assists from four August matches.
Luke Molyneux (Doncaster Rovers) – wide striker
Molyneux picked up where he left off in the spring, scoring four goals and contributing two assists in a free-flowing Doncaster attack. His clean striking of the ball was evident in his goals, with braces against Accrington and Port Vale.
ALL winners will be announced on Friday, 13th September 2024.
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Chief Executive Trevor Birch and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies
