Tommy Simkin Retains Starting Spot as England U20s Defeat Romania

The young stopper was back in action on Tuesday evening.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsWalsall goalkeeper Tommy Simkin was back in the England Elite League starting XI on Tuesday evening as they took on Romania at Stockport County on Edgeley Park.

Paul Nevin's side added to their recent draw with Turkiye as a goal in each half for Oxford United’s on-loan striker Dane Scarlett and Sheffield United’s Louie Marsh saw the Three Lions secure a comfortable win.

England produced a dominant performance with their opponents being restricted to a handful of opportunities with their best arriving five minutes from time when Eduard Radaslavescu’s free-kick drew a fine save from Simkin.

The ELS squad, formerly known as England Under-21s, will return to action in October when they face Czechia at home, with the date and venue for that game to be confirmed in due course.
