Walsall boss Matt Sadler has confirmed that central defender Priestley Farquharson is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing a scan earlier this week.
"I'm gutted for him that he's had this injury because I know how hard he's taken it. The road to recovery starts for him now."
Sadler, who has already seen the likes of Liam Gordon, Oisin McEntee, and Josh Gordon join his already lengthy list of injuries, admitted it wasn't good news as the defender looks set to undergo surgery.
Farquharson joined the Saddlers from Newport County in the summer of 2023 but was only able to make twenty-one first-team appearances over an injury-hit campaign.
And, with this latest setback, looks set to miss another large portion of the season after picking up the injury against Tranmere Rovers in August.
Speaking to George Bennett of the Express & Star, Sadler said: "Not a good one, unfortunately.
"I don't want to put a time on it but he's got to see a specialist and discuss surgery. So he'll be out for a significant period.
"We have to rally around him in his recovery from that. He's very down at the moment so hopefully, tonight's lifted him a little bit.
"The family that we are, we have to get around him because he's going through a tough time with that at the moment.
"With the injuries that he's had and the way that he's started the season, he saw it that he was back to himself.
"I'm gutted for him that he's had this injury because I know how hard he's taken it. The road to recovery starts for him now."
