Walsall were back in action on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed Colchester United to the Poundland Bescot Stadium for their televised Sky Bet League Two clash.
After winning all three of their previous home league games the Saddlers were brimming with confidence as they took on the U's.
Despite something of a slow start, it was the Saddlers who opened the scoring as Jamie Jellis capped off a sweeping attack to poke the ball home after a display of close control. The goal had a fair helping of luck, but they'll take it.
Walsall doubled their lead in the second half when substitute Albert Adomah was on hand to prod the ball over the line after a well-worked ball into the box.
The Saddlers' third goal of the game came just a few minutes from time as Jack Earing sealed the points after coming off the bench earlier in the half.
Jack Earing also netted the fourth goal of the game as Walsall rose to the top of the table, with a welcome increase to their tally of goals scored.
