Walsall boss Mat Sadler has spoken of his pride as his team withstood some late pressure and a raft of injuries to take all three points against Cheltenham Town.
After losing to Tranmere Rovers last weekend, the Saddlers were hoping to build upon their midweek EFL Cup victory over Huddersfield Town as they welcomed the Robins to WS1.
Playing out a goalless first-half, Walsall went into a two-goal lead after substitute Nathan Lowe and veteran striker Jamille Matt both accepted Connor Barrett assists.
But, with just five minutes of normal time remaining former Saddler George Miller came off the bench to grab a goal for the visitors, giving the Saddlers a nervy few minutes before the points were confirmed.
Speaking to George Bennett of the Express & Star, Sadler said: "I saw one team that was going for it from the off.
"The game in the first half certainly lost its rhythm and flow due to the injuries we picked up which was a real shame.
"But we spoke about the ways we wanted to hurt them at half-time and we did that in the second half.
"That was what was really pleasing. We had to do it a different way today. We had to come through a lot of adversity in terms of people out but I thought Harry was brilliant when he came on and Nathan will rightly get some of the plaudits.
"It was a proper team performance and I'm really proud of the lads."
It wasn't all good news, however, as Josh Gordon, Oisin McEntee, and Liam Gordon were all forced off through injury, giving the gaffer a headache heading into Tuesday's EFL Trophy meeting with Birmingham City.
