We are deeply saddened to learn that former Walsall striker Gary Shaw has died at the age of 63.
A product of Aston Villa's youth system, Gary Robert Shaw was born in Solihull on Saturday, 21st January 1961 and began his professional career at Villa Park in 1978.
Going on to make over 160 league appearances for the Villans over the next decade, he netted almost sixty league goals, helping Villa to win the First Division championship in 1980/81 and the European Cup the following year.
After injury saw his number of appearances drop, Gary went on to join Danish side Kjøbenhavns Boldklub in 1988 before moving to SK Austria Klagenfurt in Austria the next year.
Returning to the United Kingdom spells with Walsall, Kilmarnock, and Shrewsbury Town followed before a brief spell at Hong Kong-based Ernest Borel FC ahead of his retirement in 1992.
Gary scored three goals across nine league appearances for the Saddlers, adding to over 200 appearances during a fourteen-year playing career.
We are extremely saddened to hear the news that Gary Shaw has passed away.
