Youth Alliance: Bolton Wanderers 3 Walsall 0

The young Saddlers were back in action on Saturday morning.
Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Saturday morning as they made their way to the Skuna Stadium in Atherton where they took on Bolton Wanderers U18s in the EFL Youth Alliance.

Managed by Professional Development Phase Coach Ryan Simmonds, the Reds opened their campaign with a 2-0 home defeat to Blackpool, the Saddlers going into this game with a desire to right a few wrongs as they took on the much-fancied Trotters.

Unfortunately for the Saddlers, they showed few signs of being able to overcome their opponents. Bolton opened the scoring with thirteen minutes on the clock, and David Abimbola and Toby Ritchie combined for the former to send the ball into the far corner of the net.

The second goal of the game also went the way of the home side when Toby Ritchie’s corner wasn't cleared and saw Daeshon Lawrence's header eventually fall for Jamie Grayson, who tapped home at the back post.

Toby Ritchie continued to torment the Walsall backline and played a hand in the Trotters' third goal as his cross was flicked into the top corner of the goal by Yestin Shakespear, sealing the points for the home side.

Back to the drawing board for the Saddlers as they continue the search for their first win of the season.
