Walsall have confirmed the signing of West Bromwich Albion forward Reyes Cleary, who arrives at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on a season-long loan.
"He’s a player who, rewind twelve months ago, was sought after by every club in the division above after his prolific season in Premier League 2. He’s a lovely kid, a Birmingham lad so he knows the club well and knows the history of the club well.
"He’s desperate to succeed, desperate to get back into what he believes is his place. He’s had a taste for it and now he wants more.
"We’ve got to get him up to speed but in terms of his ability, he’s a very good finisher, very direct, wants to get at people and he gives us a different attacking outlet which is what I talk about all the time, having different weapons in the game to be able to beat teams in different ways and he does that.
20-year-old Cleary, a product of the Baggies' Academy system, rose through the ranks at the Hawthorns to pen professional terms in the summer of 2022.
Largely consigned to the West Brom reserve and development teams, Reyes has made just five first-team appearances and will be hoping to greatly increase that number during his time in WS1.
A former England U19 international, Cleary, who penned a new one-year contract in the summer, will join Josh Gordon and Jamille Matt in fighting for a place in Mat Sadler's starting XI.
Speaking via the club's official website, Head Coach Mat Sadler sought to welcome Reyes to the club, he said: "I’m pleased to add Reyes to the team.
"Thanks again to our relationships at West Brom, we have the opportunity to bring Reyes in.
