Walsall welcomed Morecambe to the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they opened their 2024/25 Sky Bet League Two campaign against the Shrimps for the second season in a row.
Despite their lack of firepower in attack, the first goal of the game went the way of the Saddlers as defender Taylor Allen opened his account for the season with a well-taken effort from the edge of the Morecambe area.
The Saddlers were the better side for much of the contest but were unable to add to their opening goal, as they had to settle for a narrow 1-0 win, starting the season in the best way possible.
