Mat Sadler on Walsall's 'Thoroughly Deserved' Win Over Huddersfield Town

Here is how the gaffer saw the Saddlers' Carabao Cup clash with Huddersfield Town.
Walsall booked their place in Round Three of the Carabao Cup as they mounted a superb comeback to defeat League One Huddersfield Town 3-2 under the lights at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Going 2-0 down to their much0fancied visitors, on-loan Stoke City striker Nathan Lowe rebound from a wasted penalty to grab two of the Saddlers' three goals to see the team safely through to the next round.

Speaking to the assembled media, including George Bennett of the Express & Star, Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler sought to praise his team for their determined display as they were eventually able to make the most of a man advantage to continue in the competition.

He said: "It was a great win. I thought it was thoroughly deserved and we were under no illusions in the first half with eleven men, I felt very comfortable within the game and by the way they're a good team.

"Testament to our defenders that there was that real pace and tempo to their movement that sometimes it gives you four or five minutes to readjust to.

"We adjusted quickly to that and stamped our authority on the game. We missed a couple of chances and of course, we missed a penalty.

"It was a real thoroughly deserved victory tonight which is amazing to say against a team that have won all four of their games in the division above.

"I am extremely proud of the football club tonight and for how everyone came together in that way.

"The resilience from the team to come back, the determination to not let ourselves go out of the cup was there for all to see."
