Walsall's search for a second goalkeeper will continue as last season's breakout stopper Jackson Smith has confirmed his departure from the club.
Smith, who forced his way into the first-choice spot after impressing when taking the place of an injured Owen Evans, has confirmed that he won't be returning to WS1.

Out of contract, Smith and the club had been in discussions over a new deal, however, terms could not be agreed and the former Wolverhampton Wanderers prospect has confirmed he'll be plying his trade elsewhere next season.
Posted via his official X account, Jackson said: "Saddlers. My time at this football club has come to an end, and I want to say I've loved every moment of being a part of this family.
"The love that you guys have shown me has never gone unnoticed, and I hope this reflected in my passion on the pitch.
"It has been a swift 18 months, but it's been full of memories I will cherish for a lifetime.
"I've learned so much here and can only thank the club for giving me the opportunity to not only progress as a goalkeeper, but more importantly as a person.
"I want to wish the club nothing but success for the future, and I'm sure it will continue to progress, and get back to where it belongs. Up the Saddlers!"
Jackson made some thirty first-team appearances for Walsall last season, and will have some big shoes to fill as he begins the next chapter of his career. Best of luck, Jackson.
