Bescot Stadium to Host Fewer Games as Aston Villa Women Return to Villa Park

Walsall's playing surface will be home to fewer games in 2024/25.
Bescot Banter - Walsall FC NewsAston Villa Women have announced that Villa Park will become the team's main stadium for the 2024/25 season, meaning there will be fewer games played at the Poundland Bescot Stadium.

Playing all eleven of their home Barclays WSL fixtures in B6, there will be a significant increase compared to the five played there during the most recent campaign.

The remaining home fixtures, including Adobe Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup ties, will be played at the Bescot Stadium.

Villa made the move to Walsall in 2020 following the club's promotion from the Barclays Women's Championship and will continue its strong partnership with the football club into next season.

Speaking via Aston Villa's official website, Head of Women's Football, Lee Billiard said: "This is another big step forward and represents a continuation of the progress of our women's programme at Aston Villa.

"Through the support and hard work of many departments across the football club, we have been able to show Villa Park is a commercially viable venue for us.

"In the times we have played there, especially over the last couple of seasons, it has always created a special matchday experience for everyone involved.

"Players and staff collectively share an excitement to call Villa Park our primary ground from 2024/25 onwards.

"Our relationship with Walsall Football Club continues as Poundland Bescot Stadium will be our secondary venue."
