AFC Fylde have confirmed the departure of defender Connor Barrett ahead of a potential move to the Poundland Bescot Stadium.
"Walsall made us an offer which we turned down as we thought it was derisory, and so we will therefore be going to an FA Tribunal."
22-year-old Barrett, who was named the Supporters' Player of the Season, has been linked with a move to the Poundland Bescot Stadium following a strong season for the Coasters.
Initially linked with the Saddlers during the January Transfer Window, Connor is a product of the Leicester City and Burnley youth systems, with his first-team debut coming for Kettering Town in 2021.
Though far from an experienced head, Conor has already made a positive impression on his peers as he was named in the National League North Team of the Season in 2021/22, which led to a move to Fylde.
AFC Fylde Chairman David Haythornthwaite also confirmed that the club will be taking Walsall to tribunal after rejecting an offer in January as, with Connor being under the age of 24, they will be due compensation for his transfer.
Speaking via the Coasters' official website, he said; "I loved Connor and we did everything possible to keep him at the club.
"Fortunately, as Connor is under the age of 24, he can’t leave for nothing and we will be due a compensation fee for him.
