Following the news that he'd put pen-to-paper on a new one-year contract, Walsall striker Jamille Matt has spoken of his desire to help the club make progress in 2024/25.
34-year-old Matt made forty first-team appearances last season, scoring six goals, and is keen to get back among the goals next season, with the team looking to build upon what, all in all, was a strong 2023/24 campaign.
Speaking via the club's official website, Jamille said: "I’m delighted to get it sorted.
"Since the end of the season, I’ve been speaking to the gaffer and it’s the only place I wanted to be, I didn’t want to move on after last season.
"I want to build on last year, the second half especially given how we played. I think there are some good foundations there to kick on and do even better next year.
"I’ve always said that I want to be successful for the club, that’s the reason I signed here.
"I’ve achieved some decent success at this level but it would be the best feeling of all if I can do it with my hometown club so that’s the reason I’m here and the reason I want to keep doing well for the club. I’m looking forward to next season now and seeing what we can achieve."
