Walsall boss Mat Sadler has praised his team for their resilience as they rebounded from going a goal behind to take all three points from their Saturday afternoon trip to the Wirral.
Taking on Tranmere Rovers with a view to making it two wins in as many games, the Reds fell behind to a Regan Hendry goal midway through the first-half, but were able to level the scores via Jamille Matt just before the break.
Further goals from Taylor Allen and Brandon Comley saw Walsall ease to three welcome points, with the gaffer admitting the timing of Jamille's leveller changed the direction of the game.
Speaking to Express & Star Walsall reporter George Bennett, Sadler said: "It was huge.
"I was really focused that if we could go in a goal down or at 1-1, I knew we'd have a big response kicking towards our supporters and the wind would've helped us in the second half too.
"That first goal sapped the life out of Tranmere. It was a really pivotal part of the game. Important that we defended when we had that 10-minute spell after they scored as well.
"There were loads of pivotal moments in the game but Jamma's goal paved the way for the second half."
