Walsall boss Mat Sadler admitted he and his team were disappointed to take just a point from their trip to Essex as they and Colchester United played out a one-all draw on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor Allen opened the scores for the Saddlers in the first half only for Cameron McGeehan to level shortly after half-time, with neither side really benefitting from the stalemate.
Walsall continued to sit just outside the Play-Off places, whilst the U's remain in deep trouble, sitting outside the relegation zone on goal difference with ten games remaining.
Sadler, who has guided his team to the top half of the table with just one defeat in their last eight league games, admitted whilst his young, and depleted by injury, they continue to give their all for the club.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Sadler said: "We're a young team, we know that.
"We're a team that is down on a few players but the desire that we show, the determination that we show, we just fell short of maybe getting our shot off today when we had an opportunity to.
"I can't be too dissatisfied with what they're giving me because they're giving me everything. They always do.
"We're disappointed because we felt we should win the game but we're not disheartened because we put ourselves in a position to be fighting at the business end.
"We've put ourselves in a position to be attacking the final eight games with everything to play for. That's a real positive and shows how far we've come."
