Walsall defender Liam Gordon retained his place in the Guyana starting eleven as they took on Cambodia in their second group game of the inaugural FIFA Series.
With games taking place in Algeria, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Sri Lanka, the 2024 FIFA Series is an invitational competition that features friendly matches between national teams from different confederations.
After losing to Cape Verde in their first group game, Guyana were looking to get their first points on the board as they hosted Cambodia at the Prince Abdullah al-Faisal Stadium in Jeddah.
Guyana largely dominated proceedings with their opponents and grabbed the opening goal of the game via Chicago Fire II striker Omari Glasgow, who put the ball into the back of the net with twenty minutes on the clock.
Cambodia dragged their opponents back to level terms early in the second half as a perfectly weighted pass forced goalkeeper Quillan Roberts to rush out from his goal but he was unable to prevent Al Shahaniya's on-loan Boeung Ket forward Chanthea Sieng from slipping the ball over the line.
Unfortunately for Cambodia, they'd soon allowed their opponents back into the lead as a foul inside the area saw Guyana awarded a penalty that Glasgow was only too happy to take as he sent the 'keeper the wrong way to put his team back into the lead.
Guyana's third goal of the game came with around ten minutes of the game remaining as Leo-Orion Lovell was on hand to tap the ball home after a Deon Moore effort was saved by the 'keeper with the ball falling into the path of Lovell.
Their fourth and final goal came just moments before full-time as substitute Ryan Khedoo was afforded far too much time inside the area to bring the ball down and slam it home, putting the contest well and truly to bed.
There were no further goals as Liam Gordon, who played for the entire game, and the rest of the Golden Jaguars made immediate amends for their earlier defeat.
