Walsall boss Mat Sadler was pleased as punch following his side's welcome three-nil win over Morecambe at the Poundland Bescot Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Ross Tierney, Jamille Matt and Emmanuel Adegboyega saw the Saddlers make it two wins from two as they continue to close the gap on the coveted Play-Off places.
Sadler, who continues to struggle with squad selection issues, insisted his team gave their all for the cause, with his reshaped backline doing all they could to protect their clean sheet.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, he said: "I thought they were brilliant from start to finish and they should be so proud for their efforts.
"That constant desire to keep a clean sheet is evident throughout. They gave absolutely everything, threw everything at it and showed maturity beyond their years.
"Most importantly going back and looking forwards, we were great tonight, brilliant on Saturday and then we backed it up.
"We know we have to reset but I was so proud of them."
Despite remaining sixteenth in the table, the Saddlers now sit just three points adrift of the top seven and, with another win over fellow prize chasers and seventh-placed Harrogate Town at the weekend, could be even closer.
