Walsall boss Mat Sadler spoke of his delight after seeing the Saddlers return to winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they upset the form book to secure three welcome points against promotion hopefuls, Notts County.
Aden Baldwin had given the Magpies the lead thirty-or-so-minutes into the first-half, but Oisin McEntee's second-half brace saw the Saddlers earn just their third away win of the 2023/24 League Two campaign.
Sadler has been under increasing pressure over recent weeks as the Saddlers failed to win any of their previous six league games, whilst also failing to overcome National League North side Alfreton Town in the FA Cup in midweek.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Mat said; "I am pleased that the lads did what they did for them, for us, and for the supporters.
"I don't remain upbeat with you guys every week for no reason. I do it because I know we've got a good squad and a good team, and I know results will turn, but I also recognise we've gone through a challenging period.
"Of course, I do, but I also never lost doubt that we'd come out of the challenging period. That's the first step of that, and now we need to back it up."
Walsall will be back in action on Tuesday as they play host to Alfreton Town in their FA Cup - Second Round replay, with the gaffer no doubt hoping Saturday's win can fire his side up and into the Third Round where they'd be taking on Southampton.
