Walsall boss Mat Sadler has rubbished rumours suggesting he and his coaches are taking a look at former Saddlers defender Scott Dann.
Recent social media reports had insisted that, following the recent retirement of Chris Hussey, 36-year-old Dann was taking part in training with a view to earning a short-term deal.
However, speaking after Tuesday's EFL Trophy draw with Forest Green Rovers, Sadler insisted Dann isn't part of his plans, before revealing he may not add another player to his squad before the Transfer Windo reopens in January.
Liverpool-born Dann made his way through the Walsall academy before breaking into the professional ranks where he would make some sixty-nine first-team appearances whilst also enjoying loan spells with the likes of Køge BK, Redditch United, and Hednesford Town.
After making a controversial Deadline Day move to Coventry City in January 2008, Dann would also play for Birmingham City, Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace, and Reading with his appearance total growing to 499.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Mat said; "That's the first I've heard of it. Someone has put two and two together, and got five there.
"I trialled a few different players and I wasn't just willing to bring in anybody. When Hussey left, we felt like there might be an experienced one that we wanted to get back into the building.
"That'll be something that we'll look towards in the future. What I don't want to do is rush into something to fill a void, and that might take money away from January."
