Following the news that veteran defender Chris Hussey had decided to retire from the beautiful game, Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler has paid tribute and wished him well for the future.
Ending a near 500-game, sixteen-year career, Chris has decided to enter a new chapter of his life, with Sadler insisting it was the right move for the 34-year-old and his family.
Hussey joined the Saddlers from Stockport County in the summer and has made six first-team appearances scoring one goal before a recent suspension and subsequent illness saw him end his playing career on the sidelines.
Speaking via the club's official website, Mat said; "Chris has had a fantastic career. It wasn’t an easy decision for him but he has taken the decision that he feels is best for him and his family at this right time and we honoured and supported that as a football club.
"We lose Chris and the experience that he brings but he goes with our best wishes for the next part of his career.
"For us, we’ve got some brilliant options and we will continue with the squad that we’ve put together and keep moving forward."
