Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler has called upon his team to work harder in defensive situations as they slipped to a narrow 3-2 defeat to Brighton's Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
Goals from Oisin McEntee and a returning Tom Knowles gave the Saddlers a glimmer of hope, but they were ultimately unable to overcome their young opposition on another night to forget in WS1.
With his side continuing to ship goals, Sadler admitted he feels the players not only have to do better in the final third but must also work harder in preventing balls into dangerous positions in the first place.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Mat said; "We should score goals against them. We missed a couple of chances and created a lot of opportunities for us.
"It's there for us all to see. There's no point sugarcoating it. We need to get better at defending our box at the moment.
"Not only that but stopping balls from going forward, and having a real desire to do that.
"We've got a fantastic group here but there just needs to be some pride back in keeping the ball out of the net, which was unfortunately missing on a couple of occasions tonight."
