Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler has praised his side's resilience as they rebound from going a goal down to take a point against Grimsby Town on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing by the in-form Abo Eisa's 52nd-minute opener, the Saddlers got themselves back on level terms with less than ten minutes remaining as summer signing Ryan Stirk grabbed his first goal of the new campaign.
Sadler, who has so far seen his team win just one game since the 2023/24 campaign got underway, admitted that Eisa's opener was a goal worthy of any level, before welcoming his team's determined response.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Mat said; "It was a hell of a strike from Eisa which knocked the stuffing out of us at the start of the second half.
"But my lads gave absolutely everything to make sure they didn’t concede again. I was proud of the way they dug in.
"We made some changes which improved us and got the point we deserved. I’m delighted for Ryan because he’s a great kid who covers every blade of grass just like all my midfield does."
