Walsall were back in action on Saturday afternoon as they made their way up the M6 and took on Crewe Alexandra at the Mornflake Stadium.
After suffering a disappointing 4-2 defeat away to Wrexham, the Saddlers were looking to secure three points from their fourth game of the 2023/24 League Two campaign.
Walsall grabbed the first goal of the game with just over thirty seconds played as Freddie Draper grabbed his first goal in a Saddlers shirt after Danny Johnson saw an attempted lob saved before Freddie tapped into an open net.
The second goal of the game also went the way of the Saddlers as Isaac Hutchinson smashed the ball home following a nice bit of hold-up play from Draper and a well-placed Liam Gordon pass.
Crewe, who had already bounced back from being two-nil down to take a point twice this season, grabbed their first goal of the game as the match reached the hour mark with Elliott Nevitt doing the honors.
The home side did their favourite trick late in the second half as they snatched a point in stoppage time as Jack Powell restored parity as the teams both took a share of the spoils.
