Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler has spoken to the media and offered an update on the injury status of defender Priestley Farquharson, midfielder Brandon Comley, and attacker Tom Knowles after the trio sat out Tuesday evening's defeat to Wrexham.
Sadler, who is still looking to add another defender to his squad before the Transfer Window slams shut, admitted the extent of Comley's injury will see him out until at least the middle of September, whilst Farquharson and Knowles will likely miss the next few weeks.
Speaking to the assembled media, Mat said; "Knowlesy, similar sort of thing, he’s probably a couple of weeks away. Priestley, unfortunately, he’s a couple of weeks away.
"It hasn’t quite come together for Priestley as we hoped that it would so he’s a little bit longer than we thought but probably a similar sort of timeframe to Tom.
"Coms has got a tear in his ankle, so he’s six to eight weeks with it but that’s part and parcel of it. We’ve got a squad, we’re disappointed that they’re not involved, we look forward to having them back but the next person has to do their job, which we will and we’ll learn and we’ll learn together, that’s the only way to get through any period where you concede goals and go into the next game where you want to win it, you can only do it together and we will look to rectify Tuesday’s result on Saturday.
"I think we’ve got a really good squad. I’m happy with the squad that we’ve assembled, with the knowledge that you know you’re going to get injuries.
"We’re playing longer games now so the squad is going to be tested, for certain, but I wouldn’t suggest Thomas and Priestley are longer term, they’re just a little bit longer than we’d hoped, they’re only a couple of weeks away.
"We’re learning from each other all the time; relationships don’t form overnight and we’re gaining experience together. I’m very happy with the squad we’ve put together and I’m looking forward to us all being fit."
