Former Walsall midfielder Sam Perry has become the latest player to find a new club as he has signed for League of Ireland First Division side Waterford, on an as-yet undisclosed contract.
The 21-year-old made forty-two first-team appearances for the club and also enjoyed loan spells in the National League and National League North with Yeovil Town and Leamington respectively, as he went in search of more playing time.
Walsall-born Perry joined the Saddlers as a scholar after leaving the Aston Villa youth system in 2019, and, after making his first-team debut in an EFL Trophy defeat to Portsmouth in January 2020, went on to earn a professional contract in May of the same year.
peaking to WaterfordFC.ie, Sam said; "I’m looking forward to getting started. I had a chance with Keith [Long], it’s a really good club, the facilities are spot on and everything’s here for us.
"I’m a midfielder who likes to get on the ball and play forward and do that defensive part of it as well. The lads have all been really welcoming so far since I’ve arrived.
"It’s a really good group of players and I just can’t wait to get started and get on the pitch. I know I’m going to have to work hard on the training pitch to force my way into the team now but I’m up for the task and can’t wait to get going."
