Walsall Head Coach Mat Sadler has confirmed that Tom Knowles has suffered an injury, but was unwilling to go into too much detail.
Speaking after the Saddlers defeated Solihull Moors 3-0 in their final pre-season outing ahead of the new season, Sadler admitted the club's medical team are 'in the early stages of assessment' as Tom faces a spell on the sidelines.
Goals from Liam Gordon, who himself left the field with an injury in the second half, Isaac Hutchinson, and Ronan Maher saw the Saddlers ease to victory against the National League Moors.
However, news of an injury to one of the Saddlers' most important attacking outlets will no doubt go down as a worry with the opening game of the season against Morecambe taking place next weekend.
Speaking via the Express & Star, Sadler confirmed; "Tom Knowles - we're still kind of in the early assessments of what his injury looks like.
"We're hopeful that it won't keep him out for too long but there is not much more we can say about that one at the moment. Hopefully, it won't be a long-term one."
