Following the news that he'd become the latest to join Mat Sadler's backroom team, former Saddlers striker Darren Byfield has welcomed the opportunity to return to WS1.
After enjoying two spells as a player, Byfield is no stranger to Poundland Bescot Stadium and is hoping he can help the team to make progress over the coming League Two campaign.
Speaking via the club's official website, Darren said; "I am really excited. I spoke with the gaffer and I am really excited about his thoughts and ideas about what we will be doing this season so I am really looking forward to it.
"I am looking forward to jumping straight in to training and working with the gaffer, Gary and Dan Watson.
"Hopefully as a group of staff and players, we can all continue to learn and grow together and make sure that we are strong this season on and off the pitch.
"My aim is to try and improve this team and this football club and get us back to where we want to be. My experience last year with Crawley will hopefully help me in this role.
"It’s having the knowledge of knowing the teams and players that you are playing against, it is a big thing. Being in League Two last season is something we can hopefully we can take advantage of."
