Former Walsall striker Troy Deeney has been named among the players to be leaving Birmingham City when their current deals come to an end.
Joined among the released by former Saddlers loanee Adan George, 34-year-old Deeney scored seven goals across thirty-four first-team appearances for the Blues in 2022/23 and will be looking for a new home if he is to continue to play for another campaign.
Troy, who made 136 Walsall appearances, left the club for Watford in 2010 and went on to score 140 goals in 419, twice helping them to gain promotion to the Premier League, first in 2015 and then again in 2020/21.
More recently the Birmingham-born striker was linked with a surprise move to the Walsall dugout with the ex-Chelmsley Wood apprentice named among a group of people considered to be in the running to replace Michael Flynn in the dugout at Poundland Bescot Stadium.
It remains to be seen whether Troy will make a return to WS1 this summer, though there is no doubt many would love to see him pull on a Walsall shirt one more time.
