Following the news that he will be leaving WS1 later this summer, Walsall midfielder Sam Perry has issued a brief statement, thanking the club and fans for their support.
Walsall-born Perry joined the Saddlers as a scholar after leaving the Aston Villa youth system in 2019, and, after making his first-team debut in an EFL Trophy defeat to Portsmouth in January 2020, went on to earn a professional contract in May of the same year.
The 21-year-old made forty-two first-team appearances for the club and also enjoyed loan spells in the National League and National League North with Yeovil Town and Leamington respectively, as he went in search of more playing time.
Speaking via his official Twitter feed, Sam said; "Just like to say thank you to everyone who has played a massive part during my time at the club, to all the fans thank you for your support
"I’m sure the club will be back to where it should be, on a personal note it’s time for a new chapter."
