PRE-MATCH VIEWS

We can see some light at the end of the tunnel as there's just one more game separating us from a much-needed summer reset.

The Saddlers head into Monday's meeting with Doncaster Rovers on the back of a goalless draw with Crawley Town and a result that saw them register their nineteenth stalemate of a truly stale campaign,

Whatever happens in WS1 tomorrow afternoon, the season has been one of real pain for all involved as, following a promising opening few months, the wheels well and truly came off in January, with the team in nothing short of freefall before, thankfully, the games ran out.

There's not really much for the fans to get behind at the moment, but with a new Head Coach likely to be named this week, we hope they'll be able to reunite the troops ahead of the next few months.

Whether the club opts for a small recruitment drive or a complete rebuild, there is plenty of work to be done if we're to avoid a repeat performance in 2023/24.

OPPOSITION NEWS

Opponents, Doncaster Rovers, sit sixteenth in the table and have endured a poor season of their own, with the Eco-Power Stadium side managing to lose twenty-two of their forty-five games heading into kick-off.

It's not all bad news for Donny, however as they will reach Monday's match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Colchester United, as Tommy Rowe's 30th-minute goal saw them end a run of nine games without a win.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Donny and the Saddlers have met on sixty-six previous occasions, and it's the Saddlers who enjoy a comfortable Head-to-Head lead, having won on thirty-three occasions compared to Rovers' twenty-four.

There have also been nine draws over the history of the fixture, a history which began at Doncaster's Belle Vue ground on Saturday, 19th January 1924, and saw the teams meet in a Division Three (North) clash which Rovers won by three-goals-to-nil.

THE LAST TIME WE MET

The most recent meeting took place in front of 6,110 fans at the Eco-Power Stadium on Friday, 2nd December 2022, and saw the Saddlers ease to victory by two-goals-to-nil as Tom Knowles and Danny Johnson netted in the second half to secure all three points.

MATCH OFFICIALS

London-based Farai Hallam has been tasked with taking charge of the two teams, with the National League official being afforded his first opportunity to run the rule over a game at EFL level.

Hallam will be assisted by Garry Maskell and Michael Webb, whilst Paul Howard will act as Fourth Official.
