Walsall head coach Mat Sadler has confirmed that Richard O'Kelly will not form part of his yet-to-be-confirmed backroom team at Poundland Bescot Stadium.
"He is someone I class as a friend, but he won't be joining in terms of a full-time role."
Sadler, who was joined by O'Kelly during his three-game spell as interim boss, went on to reveal that the 66-year-old will serve as something of a mentor and will always be welcome to visit the Saddlers' Essington Training Ground.
Speaking to BBC Radio WM reporter Daz Hale, Mat said; "I think he will continue as a friend, mentor, and person I can continually pick the phone up to and who will pop down to the training ground.
"He said to me that any time rice pudding is on the menu at the training ground, he'll be there. So it's on the menu every day from here on in.
"He is someone I class as a friend, but he won't be joining in terms of a full-time role."
Sadler went on to confirm that he hopes to be able to announce who will be part of his coaching team in the near future, he continued; "There are ongoing conversations with two or three people. There are a couple of positions to fill and that will be done soon."
