Walsall captain Donervon Daniels has taken to social media to thank the fans for their support during what has been a disappointing League Two campaign at Poundland Bescot Stadium.
Ending the season in sixteenth position after winning just twelve of their forty-six league games, including Monday's 2-1 triumph over Doncaster Rovers, the Saddlers have struggled for form, especially over the second half of the campaign.
Daniels, who has recently spent a spell on the sidelines through injury, was named Supporters' and Players' Player of the Season on Monday afternoon and had to make do with a place on the bench with Oisin McEntee taking the captain's armband.
The 29-year-old was eventually able to make his first appearance since the Saddlers' 1-1 draw with Sutton United on April Fool's Day as he replaced stand-in captain McEntee during the second half and wished to thank the fans ahead of an uncertain summer in WS1.
Speaking via his official Twitter account, Daniels said "I’d like to say a massive thank you to all the Saddlers fans for your unwavering support this year.
"You’ve rallied behind me and this team for the entirety of the season. I gave my all every time I pulled on the shirt and captains armband."
