PRE-MATCH VIEWS
With the 2022/23 campaign nearing its conclusion, the Saddlers go into this weekend's match on the back of a disappointing defeat to AFC Wimbledon and in search of some semblance of hope.
A season that promised so much has so far failed to deliver and, with eight games remaining and twelve points separating the Saddlers from the Play-Off places, points simply have to be secured on a regular basis if our admittedly slim chance of reaching the end-of-season shenanigans are to be realised.
Though the team has one of the best defences in the league, the Reds currently sit sixth in terms of goals conceded, the same can't be said for the attacking line with goals as rare as a banister in the upper tier.
And, as wins are crucial to our hopes of making a late (late) run at the Play-Offs, the time has come for the frontline to prove themselves and not just go through the motions as many appear to have been doing over recent weeks (and months).
Obviously, service to the strikers hasn't exactly been free-flowing, something which is evidenced by Conor Wilkinson managing just two shots during the defeat to Wimbledon in midweek, but Conor and his colleagues have to make more of their fleeting opportunities, and soon.
OPPOSITION NEWS
Opponents Sutton United have been in indifferent form over the last few weeks, with the Amber and Chocolates going without a win in three league games.
Despite their recent run, Sutton have enjoyed a positive start to 2023, as they've lost just twice in fourteen league games, form which rightly sees them sitting in ninth place, just six-points off the Play-Off places,
Their most recent outing took place last weekend and saw them take on Danny Johnson's Mansfield Town, with the game ending goalless at Field Mill.
