Walsall Head Coach Michael Flynn admitted his side was sloppy in vital moments as they let slip a two-goal lead to draw for the sixth time in as many League Two games.
Looking to get back to winning ways after failing to do so since the opening day of 2023, the Saddlers built a two goal lead as goals from Tom Knowles, Isaac Hutchinson and Matty Stevens had looked to have secured all three points
However, during an injury time to forget for the Saddlers, Dan Kemp's second penalty of the contest, followed up by Connor Jennings' late header saw the spoils shared at the Suit Direct Stadium.
Flynn, who often tries to treat the players as a single unit, opted for a change in approach and pointed the finger at a select few of his senior players as individual errors saw his side snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.
Speaking to the assembled media, including the Express & Star, Flynn said; "I don't know why Hayden pulled a shirt in the area for the first penalty, Liam was the wrong side of his man and had to trip him and Donervon needed to put the ball out of play for the third goal.
"But we should have been out of sight by then we dominated the game and could have had four or five with people talking about the scoreline - now all they see is a draw."
The Newport-born boss then went on to look at some of the few positives to arise from the match, including Matty Stevens' first goal of the campaign.
He continued; "Matty took the goal well, it was a great strike by Hutch and a neat finish by Tom Knowles but it means nothing when you give those goals away in injury time.
"There was some home truths in the dressing room after the game and it will be a hard week in training for them before an important home game next week."
