Walsall Under-18s returned to action on Friday afternoon as they played host to Stockport County Under-18s in their latest EFL Youth Alliance outing of the 2022/23 campaign.
Looking to build upon their recent win over Shrewsbury Town, which saw goals from Arjun Toor and Tom Cox secure the young Saddlers an all-too-rare win in a season of struggle, Ben King's side welcomed Stockport to Ray Hall Lane.

Unfortunately for the Reds, they were unable to earn their second win in as many games as County went onto a two-goal lead during the first-half, and were able to both protect and add to their lead in the second forty-five.
Another disappointing defeat for the Saddlers, though their team was made up of both scholars and players from lower age groups as the Ben King and Academy boss Rob Williams continue to hand opportunities to players in the various levels of the system.
The result means Walsall have suffered defeat in twelve of their fifteen Youth Alliance outings, winning just two and drawing one, a spell of form that rightly sees them sit at the foot of the table as the season continues.
